While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

AstroBarbie and her LX200 you say??

For those of you fairly new to the list, the following link will provide you
some entertaining background. Go there, and under "List of Topics" click on
"MAPUG Award Photos".

Having had the pleasure of AstroBarbie's company for some time now, I will
soon be considering her next destination. Nominations are welcome via
private email, and I already have a few leading candidates in mind.

In the meantime, I will be displaying Barbie and her matching-scale LX200 at
the 8th annual Northeast Astronomy Forum and Telescope Show this Sunday, May
16th. The NEAF is presented by the Rockland Astronomy Club. It is being
held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, Suffern, NY. It is open Sunday
from 9-6. Details at http://www.RocklandAstronomy.com

Rumor has it that in past years, TeleVue has had a "cosmetic blemish"
eyepiece sale there, for cash only. I've also heard that these eyepieces fit
LX200 scopes rather nicely. :-)

As for my participation, I thought it might be a good opportunity to do a few
things:

1. Provide a MAPUG display, headlined by AstroBarbie.
2. Hopefully provide some MAPUG handouts
3. Maybe meet some MAPUGers, plus whoever is running the Meade booth, etc.
4. See Todd Gross (former MAPUG admin) and Carolyn Shoemaker speak
5. Sell quantities of 2" eyepiece filters to pay for the booth, hopefully.
6. Display a few prized posessions, and hope nobody offers big money for
them.
7. Put other stuff up for sale and hope somebody does offer reasonable
money...
8. See what everyone else is selling, and buy/order/drool on some of it :-)
9. Eat some of that free "vendor reception" food.
10. Gauge interest in a chartered eclipse-viewing flight from the Northeast
US.

Hope to see a few of you there, if you can make it!
