While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Wayne --

We live on the edge of the boonies here in AZ, and have seen a few
diamondbacks. Your rexperience tells me that there's a den nearby.
Have that snake expert out and maybe you guys can locate it. Without a
nearby den, you should rarely see them.

Forget the chickens and really forget the peacocks! They are all
noisy. I used to live near the L.A. Arboretum in Arcadia, CA, and
their peacocks ranged all over the neighborhoods, roosting in the
larger trees, etc. Very annoying expecially in the morning.

Rattler bites are extremely nasty, painful, and take months to heal.
The antivenin treatments are really painful too, and cost a bundle. So
take care, and avoid getting bitten at all costs.
