While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

My LX200 has worked ok over -15 deg c to +35 deg c with minimal problems
from the
drive chopper set up.Until I set up the potentiometers for best results at
15 deg c I had problems with the drive at temperature extremes. It would
stutter too much and lose tracking pulses so go out of alignment over a
period of time.None of the components other than the voltage regulators and
the power amplifiers that drive the motors get other than warm so from my
experience as an electronics engineer I would expect the real design range
of
the scope electronics to cover -25 degc to plus 50 deg c ok.The most
temperature sensitive part of your computer will be the disc drives. If they
are not powered then no problems really with those. My scope is permanently
mounted at the top of a roof the mechanics of it get too hot to touch and I
have never had any problems. Meade have allowed plenty of room for expansion
of the glassware.

My question is how hot can the SBIG camera, LX200 scope and a desktop
computer get before I need to worry about damage? I'll never have any
of these electronics powered on when it is that hot, but is it safe to
store these things in temperatures over 120F?

Thanks,
