Yeah, that is actually quite a lot bigger than necessary. See

for the APPROXIMATE dimensions of the head of my pier. The square
part of the base sticks out about an inch beyond the 10x10 square.
The three holes *about* 4.25 inches apart in an equilateral triangle
match the holes in the LX200 base.
