I think I measured wrong. The picture clearly shows that distance
being about 6.5 not 4.5. Since my LX200 is currently sitting on top
of that plate I didn't measure it directly. Instead I measured the
holes on the top of my (unused :-) tripod. I guess they're
different. Trust Michael's numbers.

But, yes, mine is a 12". I believe the base is the same for all
LX200's except the 16".
