While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I agree that sometimes you 'south of the equator' observers are shortchanged (e.g., we
have Polaris and you have ??). However, (and to pick a nit) on the FOV screen it does
say the angle between 'up' on the Pictor and North. I will agree that the mosaic is not
intuitive for southern observers (it goes to the south east most furst and works north
the proper number of images steps west, works south the proper number of images, etc).
If you do not have Pictor oriented so that 'up' is north, the image pasting order can
be a challenge.

As for John Hoot's comment, he was referring to the 208 and 216 where slow warm up is
required. My comments were specific to the 416 and 1616.

Finally, if you got 6.4 release 1 software I wonder how long that 416 was 'on the
shelf' outside of Meade. I thought they had been shipping Pictors with 6.42 since last
May, and with 6.43 since September.
