While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

My Pictor 416 XT refuses to cool down and stays at ambient temperature
irrespective of the temperature I enter in the USER PREFERENCES or the
camera menue. I have been operating my system for more than a year
without many problems using a SCSI connection. Not until an otherwise
perfect ( for my state of expertise) picture of NGC 3628 showed an
unusual amount of "salt and pepper" sprinkled all over it did I notice
the too high temperature. Does this necessarily mean my peltier element
is faulty or could it possibly be a software problem ? I'm not aware of
having changed any parameters recently, however I once did reset the
pictor box to its default values. I am using Pview 6.44 but i have tried
other versions too, same problem.
Any ideas ?
