While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

This has been discussed long ago, but I want to re-iterate its
importance. My (LX-200) Dec axis is off by over a degree. The polar
mode of the ACP alignment wizard starts with a two-step Dec-axis
calibration sequence that takes this factor out. It's also possible to
mechanically adjust the scale, but that's probably not as accurate.
You still have to start the scope with Dec set very accurately to
zero-Dec.

Without this, I have found that it is not possible to get alignment
accuracies comparable to drift-alignment. I don't purport to
understand the reasons for it, but this was a *GEM* of information
that I got from this group last year.

PS: I don't understand the "0/90" in Mike's post... for me at least it
must be set to 0 dec.
