While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
No, this is not some new type of binary star system! :-)
It describes a problem that is starting to occur on my 2-yr old LX200.
:-(
I'm up to speed on PEC training and minimizing mirror shift using the
bolt tension-spring modification so I don't think these are the sources
of the movement. Basically what I'm seeing is a double CCD image where
each set of stars are connected with a fainter bar. It's occuring about
10% of the time but not with any apparent frequency connected to the
worm gear's 8 minute cycle. And most importantly it's occuring ONLY in
the RA direction on my polar alligned setup.
I'm assuming it must be either a RA motor problem or some problem with
the worm gear. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the
solution?
