A couple of weeks ago, I reported a problem with my Pictor 416. The
camera refused to cool down after being connected. Pretty soon ,it was
determined, that it could not possibly be a software problem. After re-
installing the software and thouroughly checking all the cables and
connections, I had made up my mind to send the camera back to Meade but
then I gave it one last try. Again it did not cool down. The first
number in the status bar was equivalent to the ambient temperature, the
second one about two degrees higher. Power read 100%. I then accidently
touched the control box and the black cable going into the box became
unplugged. When I pushed it back in, the camera said "Beep", as it
always does when the head gets dis- or reconnected but now the first
figure on the statusbar read 0. Then it went to ambient and soon
afterwards the camera started to cool down. I have spent three nights
imaging since and everything is back to normal. The problem was most
likely caused by a few gremlins inside the controlbox or the cabling.
Anyway, they seem to have gotten scared of the long journey to the
U.S.A. and went away.
Thanks for all the help!
Bert
