While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Please excuse this re-post, I did not put the subject on the first one.
I have successfully used the 'The Sky' software with my LX200. I thought I
would look at a couple of other programs, in particular Deepsky 99 and ACP.
Much to my surprise I could not get either of these two fine programs to
communicate very well with my LX200. I can slew the scope from the control
buttons but everything else fails. ACP does not recognise the time and
settings on the LX200 as being correct, Deepsky 99 shows a continuous
readout of nonsense data. neither will goto.
I tried The Sky again and used the terminal program under Telescope,
Options. I then tried some the commands listed in the LX200 handbook. Most
commands gave the appropriate responses however the following gave no
response :GA# (gets Altitude ), :GZ# (gets Azimuth), :GS# (gets sidereal
time).
The scope was set up in Alt Azimuth mode and one star aligned.
I would be most grateful if anybody who has a recent LX200 and 'The Sky'
would mind testing some of the commands listed in the manual and let me know
if yours is the same. I was wondering if this was normal or there was a good
reason for it. Is the software Ok or the LX 'confused'.
