While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

The new boards from Meade arrived today. Only one small problem
installing the main board: there is a 2200 mfd cap sticking out from the
back of the double-deck CPU board. It is glued in place, and had been
fastened too far towards the center of the board. It hit the Dec assembly
bracket when the panel assembly was put into the mount. Luckily, one lead
is soldered to the board, and the other is under a nut holding a TO-220 on
the other side. I cut the glue, and there was plenty of lead length to
move the cap toward the edge of the board.

Testing in the living room showed that the Dec wander was fixed. I just
finished star testing, and the mount found everything without trouble. It
will even "cross the bar", and find a star!

The CDS level reads 6.432L, and the expanded data base is present. Star
903 is now the moon, just like the LX-200. My TV-101 is happy to be on a
working mount!

I don't know what went wrong when I sent the mount in for the runaway Dec
problem, but Meade has made it right. Paul McDaniel was very much
interested in solving the problem. Thanks, Paul!
