While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hello to all,
Frustration is setting in. My version of Pview is 6.44 released 26/10/98, which
is the same as the beta release 1 on meade.com/catalog/pictor/pvbeta.html.
Unless senility is really setting in faster than I realise, I think there is a
later version than this. If so please tell me where it is.

If this is the latest, then it has serious errors.
Three and four minute exposures do not close the shutter on the 416xt on time,
but remain open for another 1.5secs.
The time of exposure written to the file bears little resemblence to the actual
time.

Test time date Recorded time date
1:47:01pm 1999.06.04 20:47:01 1999.06.04
(added 7hrs)
7:51:00pm 1999.06.04 02:51:00 1999.06.05
(added 7hrs)

My computer is set correctly for Australian Eastern Standard Time, GMT +10hours.

An image with an exposure time recorded as 240seconds was later dark frame
subtracted, and the time was rewritten as 512.02 seconds!!! Has Meade got a
school child writing this program. After several years it still has these
monumental blunders.
I reported to Meade over a year ago that with successive image downloads the
images start to creep across and down the screen. Still does!!!

Anyone have the same problem?

Regards
Vince Gardiner
