While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi

I have a st7 with cfw-8 mounted on my lx200. Regretfully the CCD will
now not pass completely trough the fork. I managed by making a custom
adapter ring to let the scope look at the pole, but if by some fluke
the scope tries to go beyond that, it will hit the fork! I dont know
how bad this is for the motors, but I can imagine it is not very good.
In order to prevent this, I would like to build a Panic button which
switches of the juice to the telescope at a moments notice.
Previously I noticed that when I pull the plug while the scope is on,
it will refuse to come back online for +- 10 minutes. I suppose this
is some kind of protection, but does it do any harm to the telescope
by making such a panic button?
I was thinking about taking a latching relais to cut the power, and
maybe even a microswitch on the fork , so power is automatically cut.

If anyone has some ideas about this, I would appreciat any comments.

If it works I could post the circuit I used (I am a complete
electronics illiterate, just trying it from first principles)

With kind regards
