While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I went along almost the same route as Greg in building an artificial star.
But Greg made a mistake, when he tried to illuminate the ball from far away.
That's not necessary. The front lens of the Laser diode module has a diameter
of only 2 or 3 millimeters. At a distance of 1 meter, this is already far
smaller in angular diameter than the sun (~0.1 degree = arctan 2/1000).
Therefore I have mounted the laser diode module at the other end of the
cardboard tube. This is extremely simple and effective and much brighter.
