Hi
Well my luck finally run out this weekend. After a year of almost
trouble free operation of my lx200 8", something really went wrong
this time. Initial startup gave no problems. All devices (telescope &
CCD) were connected to the computer, only not yet opened. After some
flatfielding I wanted to connect the lx200 to skymap pro. The second I
opened the serial device the lx200 went dead.
After a bit of fidgiting I found out that it was actually the
powerconverter that had switched of (as protection). I turned of the
computer and after a 10min wait(the powersuplly was now functioning
again) I tried again. Scope came back online, and I tried to connected
the telephone cable again. No probrems. I had disconnected the cable
from the computer. With the computer still off, i plugged the cable in
to the computer and PRESTO lx200 dead ;-(.
Well after this the power supply remained dead. So i will have to buy
a new one, and can only hope that the telescope was not damaged.
I read something in the mapug archive about faulty connectors, and
will try and look it up.
If anyone has an idea about what went wrong and how I can fix it, I
would appreciat any input.
Many thanx
Bjorn
*sigh* It is starting to look like, the more effort I put into it, the
more goes wrong ;-(
