While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hello friends
I received yesterday my brand new 12" LX200 with Super wedge.
I bought it from the local dealer in Athens for $7.000 (translating the
local currency I paid in dollars).
Unfortunately here in Europe we have to pay the extra taxes and the gain of
dealer.
The Date of package from MEADE was 06/18/99.
Unpacking the telescope everything was in position with no any damage or any
missing.
The instrument is the first 12" LX200 in Greece from the local MEADE dealer.
I had no experience of this instrument except of lot photographs and
descriptions from Internet
The first impression:
The instrument is bigger than I expected.
It is very heavy but with a little effort I can manage the weight.
All the parts are very well constructed with fine finish.
Electronic parts seem to work fine.
At the first light test I found it out of collimation and I fixed it.
But as I move the star in the FOV from edge to edge I see somwhat
unexpected.....
See my next message .....
The focus knob is harder than I expected.
The mirror shift seems to be in very acceptable range.
The giant tripod is impressive and in Altazimuth mode the instrument is very
steady
The ROM version is 4.341L and the keypad revision 3.21
Next week I plan to go in a dark place to test it better.
I will keep the group informed in case anyone is interested in (just as I
was a few months ago).
