While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

1. The SCSI interface logic has a number of codes to identify the device. The closest to
a CCD imaging system was a scanner (hence the identification).

2. I never got my 1520B to connect to my 416 or my 1616. However, I have gotten my 1460A
and a series of new SCSI cards to connect. The symptoms were similar: identified at
boot, reported as a scanner, never seen from EZ-SCSI or Pictor. If you have another SCSI
device that you can power on and off, then I can give you instructions on how to 'fake'
the system so you can use the 1616 with the 1520.

3. Meade is working on improving the SCSI logic in the firmware. There should be a
upgrade in the future (I have no information about a schedule). This will improve some
SCSI related behavior and, I hope, will help the situation with the 1520 series card.

4. Adaptec used the same chips in both the 1520 and the 1460. One works and one does
not. I suspect differences in mini-port drivers.

5. Moving the 1520 to another computer will not change the behavior.

6. If you are going to do serial with the 1616, get the latest release from Meade, 6.44.
It is on their web site. Note that the long promised 6.45 is due 'any day now'.
