I know an adjustable pier would be nice but it wont be as stable as a solid

Youre possibly right, however, at least Ill be in equatorially mounted and
"attempting" to do film & CCD photography. Without some way of getting my
LX200 up on a wedge, this is all academic. I have e:mailed Le Sueru
Astropiers as advertised in S & T to see if they can build a motorized or
hand crank pier. If they can, I suspect there would be quite a market for
such in the astro community. There would be a whole bunch of large
refractor people who have to mount the equatorial head portion of their GEM
on a high pier or tripod that would benefit from such an arrangement.
