While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

RE:416 and spectra.
Hope someone has an idea? We have a donated spectra grating/blaze,
transmission type, mounted on a second wheel in my home brew
spectrograph. The 416 will not pick it up? When I look through the
grating its self I see the star, and spectra just to the left and right
of the star. I made a test box, with a pin hole and tube taped to one
side of the wheel where the grating is mounted. On the other side, (CCD
Side), I made a tube that is the same distance that the face of the CCD
chip would be from the grating as if it was back in its housing. I put a
cap on the tube with a square hole in it, the same size as the chip.
With my eye, I can see the object and the spectra, but yet nothing on
the 416? I wonder if there is some sort of optic glass or compressor I
could add behind the grating. The front wheel has the 3 color filters,
and I get good color test results, with the grating wheel in the open
hole, but when turned to the grating hole, its the same and no spectra.
I should see the spectra in B&W or color with filter wheel work. Any
thoughts??? Mike.
PS you can see the pic's of this new unit on my web site, part of this
address, and testing looks ok????, in the room?
