I dont want to become a Meade advocate, but the problem I had with my
LXD500 controller was fixed relatively quickly by their customer support.
First, we thought a motor was bad, and within a week I had a replacement.
That didnt fix the problem. About a week later I had a full replacement
controller, including motors. That fixed the problem. Now all I have
to do is send the bad unit back in the box the replacement came in.
Given the horror stories I read here and elsewhere about Meade, all I
can say is it really is too bad. If everyone got the level I service I
did, maybe Meade wouldnt have such a PR problem (at least as percieved
by me).
Also, my calls were always returned same or next day. I cant say enough
good things about Paul in Customer Support - I think he is doing a good
job.
Now if Meade would just repair their eyepieces like TeleVue, I might consider
buying more of them (especially big bucks 2" ones). I say this in the hope
that Meade people are reading this list.
And thanks to everyone on this list...it is a tremendous resource!
