While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

For all interested in a SCSI that works with the 416XT, I managed to get the
following setup operational:
SCSI Card: Adaptec AHA2940AU ($229)
SCSCI cable: 6 foot SCSI II HD(male) to Centronics 50 (male) double sheilded
twisted pair ($44.95) (add california sales tax to all this and the total
comes just shy of $300)
The PC is a desktop Pentium 200MHz, 32mb.
The Adaptec card came as a "kit" complete with internal cables (of no use to
me) 3 1.44 dikettes - 7800 family Manager set for Win95 and Win NT, 7800
manager set for Unixware, Adaptec EZ-SCSI (DOS based version), and a EZ-SCSI
4.0 CD Rom, and finally installation manuals. I could'nt find any use for the
three 1.44 discs and only used the CD-Rom.
After struggling somewhat to configure the SCSI settings according to the 416
Manual, everything works like a charm except for one thing (so far) once Pview
is connected, can't do a "disconnect". Just have to unplug the 416. Does
anyone have any suggestions?
By the way, I'm running 6.4 Beta 3 and to those interested, I noticed that the
Beta 3 Pictor.ini file is no different than the previous version.
Was all this worth it? It's a matter of opinion. Took a couple of dark frames
and noticed the transfer time dramatically faster than the serial, 116KB
setup.
I am now dearly awaiting some decent skies to try the whole thing out.
Will gladly share further details on this exact configuration.
Regards,
Max
