Hey all. My college astronomy club is planning on purchasing a telescope for
the club. They have about $500-900 to spend on it. Above all, they want it
to track. They have picked out the ETX as their choice. They were quoted a
price of about $850 for the scope, tripod, autostar system, etc.... I think
this is a little much for a system of that size and recommended either a 6
or 8" starfinder eq. Same price for the most part, but bigger, more stable,
and in my opinion an overall good scope.
So now they are deciding between the ETX and the starfinder. I am wondering
if the people who own ETX scopes could comment on how they like them.
Portability, accuracy of tracking, accuracy and ease of use of the autostar
system, optical performance, etc....
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
