While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I asked the same question when I started. As I can't really justify a
seperate SLR just for astro work, I still use my Canon EOS 500. Don't
really have too many problems with it, for solar and lunar - still to retry
planetary & star (duff film.....). As Phil says :
