While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi, Tom and all,

Yes, I have replaced the F6.3 screws on my 10" scope. I first replaced them
with original screws from Meade because mine were getting worn in the head
slots. I also replaced them with a set from Chris H.

They can and should be replaced one at a time, just as for the F10 models.
Actually, it is a very easy task to do. Just unscrew one, replace it, snug
it, then loosen it a tad. Next, replace the second one, snug it, then loosen
it a tad. Likewise for the third.

Because of the extra length of the screw, it may take just a *little*
"fishing around* to find the hole the screw goes into, but if you keep the
screw as straight as possible, you will hit it with no problems.

As with any first time mod, it always seems a little scarey to do, but it
turns out to be as simple as could be. No problems at all.

Hope this helps.

So, I guess my next question is this -- has anyone replaced the collimation
screws on the f/6.3, the long ones? Can they be unscrewed and replaced one
at a time?

In the discussion on replacing these, I didn't note if all participants had
the f/10 with 1/2" screws or if anyone's replaced the long ones. In short,
I don't wanna be the guinea pig... ;)
