You will note that, with this exception, I do not respond any longer to
questions of extending the keypad cable.
Meade's canned response to this question is stated from their standpoint.
They want to minimize problems for customers who do not understand the
problem from an electrical point of view and who do it wrong.
However, the fact is that many users want to and need to extend their keypad
cords. This can be done safely if you carefully follow the discussion and
instructions on my web site. You must follow these instructions carefully
if you are to avoid problems. You must connect the wires in the cables
correctly and you must use a ground wire in this cable that is sufficiently
large to carry the ground current without excessive voltage drop. If you
do so, you can make a 100 foot extension easily. All of these factors are
discussed in great detail on my web site. Note however that I take no
responsibility for klutzed up wiring!!
