Many of you may remember this summer the construction of the Biosphere 2
Observatory. Back in October we had a 20" OGS RC installed temporarily
while we waited for the permanent 24" to arrive. The 24" has now been
installed and the progress can be seen at:

I got to work closely with John Stiles (sp?) the president of OGS for two
days while he setup the 24" It was quite educational for me to see a scope
of this caliber installed. Today we gingerly lifted the 150 pound mirror
and mirror cell into the OTA. It will probably get first light tonight or
tomorrow night.
Public programs will be available soon to compete with Kitt Peak's
overnight program (which uses a 16" LX200).
