While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I've got to admit that I don't have ton's of experience with lots of
different eyepieces. I've looked through Panoptics, other Naglers and even
some of the Meade Ultrawides, but since my forte isn't observational
astronomy I'm not an eyepiece expert. It is just that to my untrained eye
the 31mm totally blows away any other eyepiece I have used on my scope. I
was looking at the moon and Jupiter last night and didn't notice any color
at all (but I wasn't looking for it). Is is possible that the combination
of primary optics and eyepiece optics can create this kind of color you
describe? In other words, with a given eyepiece, can one optical system
(like an apo refractor) show color but not with another optical system
(like with a SCT)? Maybe Al Nager designed the eyepiece to correct for
color in systems that have a slight chromatic aberration, so with an
optical system that has not chromatic aberration one sees color? Just a
though.
