Bill,
In my case the compass was "only off" about 15 deg but the level bubble was
way off. Although I got around the initial error in the compass, it wasn't
until I broke down the mount and checked the level on the tripod that I
figured out why my go-to's had been off both evenings I was initially set up
in the equatorial mode (on the wedge). Based on my experience, I wouldn't
put a lot or reliance on either the compass or the level on the mount. By
the way, other than that, my LX200 was worked like a charm for over a year.
