While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

"My question for other members of the group is
about the compass that fits into the black knob used to mount the
equatorial wedge to the tripod. "
Bill,
In my case the compass was "only off" about 15 deg but the level bubble was
way off. Although I got around the initial error in the compass, it wasn't
until I broke down the mount and checked the level on the tripod that I
figured out why my go-to's had been off both evenings I was initially set up
in the equatorial mode (on the wedge). Based on my experience, I wouldn't
put a lot or reliance on either the compass or the level on the mount. By
the way, other than that, my LX200 was worked like a charm for over a year.
