The light leaks in the JMI focusers has been a problem from day one. I have
had two of these units dating back to three years or so ago. They plane and
simple leak badly. There are only two solutions that I know of at the moment.
One is to not extend the tube beyond half way. This limits the travel to only
6 mm but that is enough for a fine focuser. The other is to wrap the thing in
an opaque black bag.
Too bad such a nice unit (I love it) has so many leaks. These problems have
been discussed on the web and are discussed as well on my web site.
