While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I am considering buying a new 10" f10 LX-200, and have a quick question:
The piggyback mounts and counterweight assemblies: how do they attach
to the OTA?
Are there pre-drilled mountpoints on the tube, or is OTA-tube-drilling
and thread tapping required to fit them?
I don't have enough tools/experience to make my own metal mountings,
but I am a reasonably practiced woodworker and have made a 10" Dob
before now, but before I decide to *not* buy piggyback mounts and
counterweights along with the scope - and instead to try making them -
I was wondering what sort of mess I'll be getting myself into,
mounting homemade devices to the OTA.
Any hints would be most welcomed.
Many thanks.
