While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi Tony,

A few things to get your success rate near 100%.

1) Sell the 201XT and buy a SBIG ST4. The ST4 is so much a better
autoguider it isn't funny. The ST4 works and works well. The Meade 201XT
and 208XT are difficult to get to work even with good on axis star images,
and nearly impossible to get to work with the typical bad off axis star
images. I sold my 208XT about a year ago and got an ST4. That move alone
improved my success rate 10 fold.

2) Sell the Meade OAG and buy the Lumicon Giant Easy Guider. The
difference is like night and day, and the Giant Easy Guider has an 80mm
focal reducer built in, which give you much better finished shots.

3) Practice, practice and practice. Don't waste dark time out in the field
learning how to make it work. Practice in your yard with cheap film just
to get the hang of guiding. Don't expect perfect results right away. It
takes a few rolls of film to really learn what works and what doesn't.

4) Print out these two articles and read them over and over.

Good luck!
