Just send a private email to me, and a copy to Ed Stewart also.

Well check out your site and add a link to it, if it contains nothing which
offends us or puts MAPUG.com in legal jeopardy. It also must be sufficiently
non-commercial so that I dont require it to go on the (separate) "commercial
side of the fence" with appropriate payment.

Ill work up some formal paperwork, which will basically say that each
non-commercial content provider or linked site agrees to post only
non-commercial content, nothing violating the usual ISP agreements (no
obcenity, no porno, no spam, no hate sites, etc. and no links to them
either), has an acceptable privacy policy, etc. Obviously there is a certain
mix of trust and paranoia required in order to successfully build a site like
MAPUG.com with potentially so many links to personal websites.

In the meantime, just cut and paste the above paragraph and customize it with
your own name, URLs, etc. Be sure to swear to the appropriate parts, and
also that you will indemnify and hold me harmless, including legal fees, if
anyone involves me in a lawsuit due to your content. ;-)

Ill ask that a written, signed copy also be sent within a week or two of
emailing it. Im not looking for any legal battles or very controversial
content, and want to avoid providing an outlet for any people who might be.
Anyone feeling that this infringes their First Amendment rights of free
speech can have their content on their own site, but if you want it linked or
hosted on MAPUG, youve got to follow the domain owners rules...and thats
me. Its the old "so long as you live under my roof" speech. Theres no
reason a site like MAPUG.com shouldt be 100% clean and non-controversial
beyond maybe saying good or bad things about certain telescopes and
accessories, which is quite welcome if the authors are willing to be
responsible for their own statements.

After a trial period for most users of being linked from MAPUG.com, you may
be invited to actually post your content to a subdirectory of MAPUG.com and
maintain your site there. No promises to any particular subscribers, but Ed
Stewarts content is already there. Doc Greiner and Ralph Pass were invited
but declined, preferring their independent sites...and there will be many
more people linked from and/or invited to use space on MAPUG.com this year.
