While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Hi,
I am a Belgian amateur astronomer. I was offered to buy a Meade 10" f/6.3.
Since I have no experience at all with these kinds of telescopes I would
like to hear what you would do in my current situation.
I have to drive about 60 miles to a dark (lm 6.7) location. I always go
observing alone. This means I have to drag the telescoop 2 stories down by
stairs put it in my car (a VW Golf IV) and then set it up alone. Can it be
done ?
How about image quality? Is there a lot of difference in contrast/detail
between a f/6.3 and a f/10. I currently own a 10 inch f4.1 wich does not
give good images and I don't want to make the same mistake over again. My
primary use of the scope will be visual. I do not have any experience with
imaging yet but the idea is to start working on that as well. First with a
normal camera later on with CCD.
Since I have a limited budget I have two options. I either buy the used 10"
LX 200 f/6.3 or I buy a new 8" LX200 f/10. What would be your choice?
Thanks in advance, kind regards;
