While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I had the cover off of my 10" LX200 Dec assembly and noticed that if I turned the manual
control and watched the gear rotating it popped out at the bottom but was still engaged on the worm wheel albeit offset.

1. When the cover is replaced and the lock knob is screw home does this prevent it happening whilst in operation?

2. If not, can a washer be used behind the gear to prevent it?

3. Is there anything I should be careful of if I have to remove the gear wheel to pack it out with a washer should this be the remedy,
and is it easy to remove the gear wheel?

Could this also attribute to the noise the Dec motor makes when moving?

Your views would be greatly appreciated on this one,

TIA,

Andy.
