While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Can you guys give me a hand with a question.

I drove myself nuts trying to use a 201xt autoguider 3 years ago and
eventually went with an ST-7. After trying to use my ST-7 with my Lumicon
BEG, I realize that option, too, is a joke because of the amount of weight
that rests on the guide tube and the flexure issue.

So, I'm back at the begining trying another 201xt (this hobby seems like an
endless cycle of insanity) again, just trying to get a guide star that is
bright enough and actually focused and I have this question.

If I can get a star focused on my st-7, then should I not also be able to
get the 201xt to focus as well (assuming equal distance from chips on both
units; i.e., the focus point of light should be identical for both chips,
correct?).

Another question, I read here on MAPUG that using a Meade 9mm reticle for a
focusing reference will approximate about the same distance for where the
201xt should be inserted in the draw tube. I do not own one of those, but
rather a 9.7mm Meade eyepiece. Am I close enough here? I was not sure if
there was anything different in the eyepiece optics of a reticle.

Thanks

Rich
