I got rid of my telrad after only a few weeks with my new 12" LX200. I just
wasn't using the telrad.

When I go to dark sky locations, I use an inverter and run everything off 110v

Only if you plan on using the scope in Al-Az mode. I found that I like using
my scope in polar mode, mainly because I do a photography via piggyback and
CCD.

My LX200 has been in the observatory since 1996. No problems except for the
electronics fix -- twice! Once under warranty.
