While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Hello,
First the tracking problem: for 60-second exposures in polar mode with a
CCD camera, half of the images show perfectly round stars while the other
half shows oval stars. The ovality is about twice or thrice the diameters.
I usually do the 2-star alignment procedure as decribed in Meade's manual
with about 6 iterations between Polaris and the second star. I then do the
drift method as described by Meade. I trained the PEC as well.
I have had this problem for more than a year now and I am really
disappointed because instead of observing I waste my nights trying to
improve this situation....:-( I would be really grateful if you could help.
The other thing is this: after the alignment procedure is completed,
whatever the target I slew to, it is at the bottom of the image sometimes
completely hidden and I have to press on the South key to bring the target
at the center.
I wonder if there might be a relationship between these two problems...?
Thank you for your help
Chris
