While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
The Meade diagonal is a 10th wavefront error as the TV. The big
advantage that I like about the TV is the one piece bilot construction
and the 2" slip eyepiece type fitting as opposed to the Meade's visual
back female thread ring. Both use the same diagonal glass as you would
find used in a secondary of a large Newtonian and are full thickness. I
have both diagonals but you can't tell the difference visually only
mechanically. You can exchange mirrors from one holder to the other. If
you already own the Meade I would get it resurfaced and overcoated. If
you have none and want the 2" diagonal I would buy the TV, AP or the
Lumicon. QSP strips, new reflective surface and overcoats your glass.
Meade's glass is not inferior, just the reflective surface is in the >85%
range. Send just the mirror. You can find out more buy contacting QSP.
I was wondering where you are getting your information on the Meade 2"
diagonal, inferior to what?
