While you're here, how about checking out the

Hello all,
I own a 10" LX200 which I purchased new about 4 years ago. Last year at
about this time, it developed an electronic problem which required sending
all electronic components back to Meade for repair. When scope was
re-assembled, the electronic problem was cured and scope is still free of
any electronic gremlins.
Over the last few weeks, the scope has developed a noise when slewing in RA.
The noise is audible only in one direction (slewing east only) and sounds
like the noise your car would make when stopped at a traffic light with your
foot lightly on the brake peddle and your car creeps forward. I've noticed
also that the RA motor seems to labor a little more when the noise is
audible...it must also draw more current as the display on the console
appears to show one or two bars more than normal when noise is audible.
I'm sure that this noise is mechanical in nature and I plan to disassemble
the scope to see if I can find the source of the problem. I don't think
that the noise comes from the ring & worm gear but I could be wrong. I
thought that checking the bearings may be a good area to start looking. I'm
open to and welcome any suggestions which this group may offer. Thanks to
all in advance.
Al
