While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

At this point I haven't processed any of the images. My snowball and snow flakes are looking at the raw image.

I had thought that I would get a better raw image than that.

I will try M57 as you suggest. It might not be for a few days as the sky is great but the wind is high and gusty.

it sounds to me like you dont have a focus problem. it sounds like an image processing problem. try to scale down the globulars. if you can see alot of "snowflakes" around the globular, chances are, you have a decent focus. a good test to use to see if you have close focus is the ring nebula. it's up nicely this time of year. when i image it through my 10" lx200, there are 2 stars right directly above it that are very close together. if you can focus close enough to split them apart, you should have a decent focus.
