I cant say for sure but Id guess your focus is soft. I got strange results as well which all seemed to improve by working on better focus. Good luck.

Ive noticed when centering a guide star in the reticle eyepiece prior to
autoguider insertion, stars that appear to be the same brightness are
perceived to be quite different by the 201...
