Allan, if I remember right, (?), you where using a pretty powerful EP,
and when the guider is in line there is no EP, so the CCD is going to
see less intensity than if say you had the EP in line. The CCD chip has
no amplifican of power like the EP does. So its simple. As a rough guide
line, these are just meaning less numbers but only to demonstrate the
powers. lets say the 201 looking through the scope has a power of 3.
Your star is mag., 5.0. Then you put in the EP and it takes that mag 5
to mag -5 a power of 10 magnitudes. So wow got a good star. But then you
put the 201 back in, its right back to the 3 X the magnitude, meaning
longer exposure. I sorry for this rough thought, but it seemed simple
enough as a demonstrator. I hope that made some sense???
