I've noticed for some time when observing near the limb of the Moon that I
get a horrible bright bunch of light in the field due to reflections from
the inside of my JMI NGF-S. It finally got to me last night and as the
seeing was so awful that real observing was impossible I decided to see if I
could do anything about the reflections. I had a piece of Protostar's black
flocking paper left over from building my 10f6 newtonian. So I cut a little
piece of it, rolled it into a tube and stuffed into the scope side of my 2"
diagonal with enough sticking out to cover the inside NGF-S and then some.
It made a HUGE and DRAMATIC improvement! The glare that was previously so
bright that even mag 8 stars were invisible thru it is now reduced to
something noticeable only if you're looking for it. This five minutes of
work is probably the most cost effective thing I've ever done to my scope
:-)
