Bob,
I used to use an old all-manual Yashica FX-3 circa 1987 when I first
started out in astrophotography. I eventually moved on to an OM-1. Never
had any problems with the Yashica, just a long hard life and 6 months of
desert sand brought it to it's end of days earlier than expected. A very
basic camera, (no mirror lock-up) but good quality and no batteries required
unless you want the lightmeter for occasional daytime shots. It also took
Vivitar lenses in addition to Yashica.

Subject: [M]: LX200 Astro-photography Camera
Greetings everyone,
I am looking to purchase a 35mm camera to attach to my 8" LX-200. I would
like to stick with a Yashica since I already have numerous Yashica lenses.
I read that the FX-3 2000 Super has mirror lock up with the self timer. Can
someone tell me whether the self timer would work in conjuction with the
cable release for long exposures? Also, if anyone has had any experience in
using this or other Yashica cameras for astro-photography, I would
appreciate any comments. Gracias.
