While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I recently had a problem with DEC runaway and went through sending the
computer, etc, back to Meade. The turn around time was 4 weeks, almost
to the day, the reinstallation went fine. Here is what I did to cause
the problem. I hooked up my computer to the scope and tried to control
the scope with the software on the computer, PROBLEM IS: I did not have
the MEADE HAND CONTROLLER plugged in at the time! This caused the DEC
motor to go haywire and even after I turned the unit off and corrected
the problem by plugging in the hand controller, the damage was already
done. So - don't try to control your LX200 from your computer until you
have the Hand Controller plugged in. By the way, I don't except anyone
to be dumb enough to "experiment" to see if they can get the same
problem as I did! Just thought you would all like to know! Now I have
a startup card on hand at all times, check connections three times and
leave nothing to chance. I also leave nothing plugged into the scope at
the end of the session.
Regards to all, R L/
