Hi Steve,
I have the 35mm Panoptic on a 8" f/10 LX200 on which it performs extremely
well (yes there a slight deterioration towards the edges). A few weeks ago
I lent it to a friend who has a 10" f/10 LX200 and also has the Konig,
basically he didn't return the Panoptic until he went home in the morning
(I was doing CCD stuff so didn't mind) whereas the Konig spent the night in
his EP box. This was in exceptionally dark skies BTW.
Another thing to bear in mind is relief if you wear glasses like I do. The
Panoptic is extremely easy to use with glasses (I do have to move your head
around to get the entire view).
I don't have a Type 5 and haven't looked through one, so can't comment on
that choice.
