Doug, I believe Doc G is accurate in his analysis, right down to the
RA motor stopping upon pressing the E button. Why this seems to
contradict what Meade says I can't explain because even in the
Alt-Az Mode, the LX-200 stops both drives (rather than one) with
an E key depress. Perhaps older LX-200 ROMS....
As Meade is sending you a hand controller, I would go ahead and
try it- who knows, maybe you'll get lucky. If you don't, the first place
I'd look is in the RA drive adjustments recommended by Doc G.
