While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I have a 6 month old 8" LX200 and have just noticed that the correcting
plate has a 4.5mm crack just below the secondary. There is a
corresponding crack just above the secondary.
I spoke with John Piper today and he offered to replace the optics under
warranty up to the one year anniversary, October 10, 1998. I am very
happy with the optics of this F6.3 scope and I am very happy with the
overall performance of the scope.
Does anyone know if these cracks tend to spread? How will the crack, if
it doesnt spread, affect the resale value? Will the cracks affect
astrophotos? If I return it before October 10, then all I pay is the
shipping. After October 10, the cost is shipping, plus $450 for
optics. Does anyone know what the "normal" turnaround time is for a
scope being sent to Meade for this kind of repair?
I wonder why this occured? Thanks for your help
Steve
