While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Well, I finally got up the "courage" to try tweaking the collimation on my
8" LX200, purchased in 93 and SW upgraded twice. Now at the latest.

I followed the hints I got off the list, started with 26mm, then 15mm, then
9mm eyepieces. The biggest gotcha was making the image to large. It
seemed that if it was just at the point where I could see rings, actually
maybe 1/8 the diameter of the field, things showed and happened. It did
not seem off at 26mm, but was off at 15mm.

Unfortunately, the full moon and no planets prevented a real check of
whether or not anything helped. I had noticed a lack of detail on planets.

Is there anything else in the sky that can be used as a comparative check???

Guess the bottom line is it really was not hard, just be careful and only
move a screw a little bit, the image goes out of the field real easy at
higher powers.

Ohh, one other thing, I noticed at the edge of the field, at higher power,
collimation appeared to drift off. Is this normal. I tweaked it at the
center.

Glad this list is here for help,

Wally
